Summertime tent-pole movies were a staple of the 90s and few films were more tent-poling than Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. Robin Hood didn't start the trend but rather it defined what a summer blockbuster should be: hire a star-studded cast, dress them all in incredible costuming, film in stunning set locations, don't write an overcomplicated script, and pepper in enough humor so as not to take yourself too seriously. This movie was so much in the public zeitgeist that kids were playing Merry Men and Sheriffs instead of Cops and Robbers... well maybe not but I like to think so. Grab your kids and a big bowl of popcorn, this one should be on the watchlist.

Stop me if you've heard this one before…A cowboy and a biker walk into a bar and get wrapped up in a ridiculous plot to stop the gentrification of their beloved town of Burbank and end up in the middle of drug trafficking by a bunch of dudes that look like they've been freshly uploaded into The Matrix! Whew! Well, that's Harley Davidson and The Marlboro Man starring pre plastic surgery Mickey Rourke and the ALWAYS BADASS Don Johnson. This is a man's man type of movie and it does not shy away from the machismo. The characters themselves make this movie what it is with visual and descriptive hints that make for a great experience! Great dialogue, lots of bullets, and just straight testosterone will take you for a ride on the wild side!

 Patrick Swayze plays Jack Crews, an ex-con truck driver hauling a mysterious load across the South while the FBI, ATF, Meatloaf, and his own past ride shotgun...all to save his family's home and lives. It’s got everything you want from late 90s action: spectacular highway stunts, growling diesels, Randy Travis playing truck stop good ol’ boy, and a plot that shifts gears every ten minutes. If you grew up on country radio and B-movie thrills, Black Dog still feels like a beer and a burnout at sunset.

An EXCESSIVE amount of talent, an EXCESSIVE amount of twists, and an EXCESSIVE amount of roundhouse kicks fill the screen in 1992’s Excessive Force! Thomas Ian Griffith writes, produces, and stars in this crime thriller alongside James Earl Jones, Tony Todd, and Lance Henriksen that entangles everyone in a war between the mob and crooked cops. The action gets brutal and intense with an EXCESSIVE amount of shootouts and mob hits, but you'll get the occasional chance to catch your breath before you're thrown back into the action!

Tonight on After Hours Cinema: Pete takes us on a trip back to the 70s, where you could still smoke wherever you wanted to and demon baby movies are rated PG. Captain Pete chose the 1974 iteration of It's Alive for this month on AHCRAP, and, surprisingly, it was a first-time watch for the both of us. (despite Pete being born in the 1800s) Regardless of its "schlock" demeanor, this film actually has some charm to it. We hope you enjoy this month's episode as we prepare for MONTH OF ACTION in July!

It's not The Avengers and it's not The Justice League…it's The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen!!! 10 years before the MCU brought together a team of superheroes to save the world, Allan Quatermain led a team of literary character juggernauts into battle against an evil army intent on world domination. With special effects years ahead of its time, this movie brought a massive amount of action to the screen. It's a rollercoaster ride full of larger than life characters, fascinating machines, and a crazy amount of bullets! Extraordinary indeed!

"Hey do you remember that cute movie Stephen Spielberg did about the little flying robots. Man I haven't seen that in decades. I'll just pop it in and take a fun little trip down memory lane. wut..I...oh no...OH GAWD! I DON'T REMEMBER THIS BEING A SAD MOVIE! MAKE IT STOP!

Charlie and Pete were ill-prepared for the emotional semitruck that *batteries not included turned into. From the first few minutes of the movie, the cozy childhood memories of the film were dashed to bits by an awareness that can only be brought on by the personal experiences from your passage through the years. It was shocking how a film can change so drastically from a different perspective. Friends, Spielberg wonderfully captures delight, magic and wonder in this adorable film while making it both very real and personal. Grab your kids, a big bowl of popcorn, maybe a big box of tissues and enjoy the hell out of this movie."

From the desk of Pete: "Pete has gained a reputation for enjoying films of...um..well...a certain quality. He loves to test his co-hosts with movies filled with blood, beasts and a bounty of boobs but ever since AHCRAP officially hit the airwaves, Anna has slam dunked on Pete picks. This week, Anna not only doubles down on the perverted-ness, but also has the audacity to give him a 'People's Elbow' with legendary director David Cronenberg. 1996's Crash is quite literally like watching an automobile accident; you can't look away, you hope everything turns out ok and when it doesn't, you feel bad about watching. The conversation we have is wild and hilarious with a few stingers that certainly turn into a cross-show running gag."

It's not revenge…it's justice, STEELE JUSTICE! B-ACTION favorite Martin Kove returns to the show with one hell of a kick to the balls! Big guns, one-liners, awesome 80s music, and the coolest pet snake of all time gets us absolutely hyped for one hell of a ride. Over the top cheesy action, odd casting choices, and wild dialogue just seem to fit the script with some surprising nuanced story telling. It may not be Oscar worthy, but it sure as hell is a B-ACTION diamond in the rough!
